Perpericon

Perperikon is one of the hundred national tourist sites in Bulgaria.

Perperikon archaeological complex located in the Eastern Rhodopes, 15 km northeast of the town of Kardzhali.

Thracian sanctuary is located 470 m above sea level, rock on top of a hill.

Excavations began there in 2000.

Perperikon consists of four parts:
– Castle in the highest part of the hill;
– Palace sanctuary;
– North and south defense gate with carved rocks streets;
– Temples and residential buildings.
